WHAT IS LAND GENEALOGY ?

Land Genealogy is a useful tool in finding unknown spouses, siblings, children, in laws, etc. Most states required spouses to sign when land was both bought and sold. Land deeds also give a personal flavor to an ancestor's life when other source information is scarce. Often they can provide a relative view of a persons wealth and social standing. In addition, they can pinpoint the exact location where our ancestors lived and died, allowing us the opportunity to actually walk on ground they owned during their lifetimes. A lot of what we've learned about our O'Neal family is based on Land Genealogy.

HOW DO I NAVIGATE THE MAPS ?

Any state with a blue star has a link to a state we are currently researching. If a state does not have a star, we have no information for that state.

Clicking a state with a blue star will take to to the state information by opening a new window. Simply close the window when completed to return to this menu. There is also a link on this page to take you back to the TOGA Site.

To volunteer information for your state, see below......

This page is a work in progress. To date only the State of Maryland is active.

States with blue stars will be coming on line soon.
