Our first records of the O'Neal, O'Neale, O'Neill Family are from the State of Maryland in the 1600's. The O'Neals resided in Maryland for several generations. Some lines migrated to California, Indiana, Illinois, Kentucky, Missourri, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Virginia and Washington. (State)

The O'Neal's owned extensive properties and plantations in the past, fought and died in various wars, were involved in  government, underwent the tragedy of numerous epidemics and were right there in the midst of it all, doing their part to tame the American Frontier.

I think that the story of the O'Neal Family is the stuff that legends are made of.  Our ancestors were revolutionaries, scholars, shop keepers, farmers, hunters, land grabbers, politicians, soldiers, and more often than not, just plain folk.  Hopefully this page will provide some insight into the building of America and one family's quest for the American Dream....
